In January 2024, the number of foreign visitors to Spain increased by 15 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 4.8 million.
Four leading markest
In February, the country that sent the most tourists to Spain was the United Kingdom with 833,000 (+12.3), followed by France with 571,000 (+18), Germany with 551,000 (+14.9), and Italy with 325,000 (+15.9).
Of the visitors to Spain in January, 3.8 million were individual travelers, while one million were package holidaymakers.
The number of guests staying for 4-7 nights this month increased by 18.2 percent to 2.1 million, while there was a 3.6 percent increase in those returning without staying overnight. An increase of 9 percent was recorded in the number of guests staying for 15 nights or more.
6,550 billion euro tourism revenue
In January, Spain's tourism revenue increased by 25.5 percent compared to the previous year, reaching 6.55 billion euros. The average expenditure per tourist in Spain during this month increased by 8.9 percent to 1,376 euros, while the nightly expenditure per tourist increased by 6 percent to 158 euros.
