5.3% Decline in February

According to data released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the number of foreign visitors to Türkiye in February fell by 5.3% to 2.171 million. In the same month last year, Türkiye welcomed a total of 2.294 million foreign visitors.

Iran was the top source of visitors in February, with 223,000 arrivals, followed by Germany (179,000), Russian Federation (167,000), Bulgaria (150,000), and the United Kingdom (102,000).

First two-month figures remain steady

The total number of visitors to Türkiye in the first two months of the year remained unchanged compared to the same period last year. While 4.341 million foreign visitors arrived in the first two months of 2024, the number recorded for the same period in 2025 is 4.343 million.

Iran led the list of visitor sources during this period, with 464,000 arrivals, followed by Russian Federation (371,000), Germany (330,000), Bulgaria (316,000), and the United Kingdom (174,000).

Key markets experiencing declines

Türkiye experienced significant declines in several key markets in February. Visitor numbers from Germany fell by 4.5%, Belgium by 15.5%, the Czech Republic by 8.7%, Denmark by 12.2%, the Netherlands by 6.7%, the United Kingdom by 1%, and Romania by 18.7%.

A particularly sharp decline was observed in Russia and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries. Visitor numbers from Russia dropped by 17.5%, Georgia by 32%, Uzbekistan by 16%, Azerbaijan by 6.7%, and Tajikistan by a striking 67%.

Additionally, visitor arrivals from China declined by 15.3%, Malaysia by 29.5%, Bahrain by 39.3%, Kuwait by 41%, Jordan by 17%, and Saudi Arabia by 12.4%.

Growing markets

Despite declines in many traditional markets, some emerging markets recorded significant growth. The number of visitors from the United States increased by 17.3%, South Korea by 10.6%, Japan by 60.8%, Canada by 12%, Poland by 31.3%, Israel by 27%, and Spain by 20%.
