20% decline in first three months of the year
Antalya, one of Türkiye’s top tourist destinations, has entered the 2025 tourism season with a noticeable decline in tourist numbers. In the first three months of the year, the total number of tourists visiting the city fell by 15%, reaching 855,000. The decline in foreign visitors during the same period was recorded at 20%.
Of the visitors who arrived in Antalya between January and March, 694,000 (81.16%) were foreign nationals, while 161,000 (18.84%) were domestic tourists. While the number of foreign visitors dropped by 20% compared to the same period last year, the number of domestic tourists increased by 9%. In the first quarter of 2024, Antalya hosted a total of 1 million visitors, including 858,000 foreigners and 147,000 Turkish nationals.
Sharp decline in foreign tourists in March
In March 2025 alone, the number of visitors to Antalya dropped by 27.7% compared to the same month last year, falling to approximately 366,000. Of these, 321,000 were foreign tourists and 44,000 were domestic visitors. In March 2024, this figure stood at 506,000.
The decline in foreign visitors was more pronounced than the overall average in March, with a 29.6% decrease in international arrivals. Nearly all of Antalya’s major source markets reported losses. Tourist arrivals from Germany dropped by 46%, the UK by 15%, Russia by 11%, Iran by 37%, and Poland by around 1%.
In the first quarter of 2025, Antalya welcomed 187,000 visitors from Germany (a 32% drop), 137,000 from Russia (down 20%), 18,000 from Iran (a 40% drop), and 114,000 from the UK (an 8.5% decline). In contrast, the number of visitors from Poland increased by 7%, reaching 37,000.
