According to information obtained by Bloomberg from officials directly involved in drafting the legislation, the exit fee for international departures is set to rise from 150 TL to 1500 TL. This fee is anticipated to increase annually in line with the revaluation rate. The draft indicates that 8.7 million people paid the fee to travel abroad in 2023, and if this number holds in 2024, the annual revenue impact is projected to be 12.6 billion TL.
A report in the Economic Gazette claims that the current 150 TL exit fee will be redefined within the range of 1000 TL to 1750 TL. If set at 1000 TL, the increase would be 566 , while at 1750 TL, the increase would be 1066%.
Meanwhile, sources from the Ministry of Treasury and Finance confirmed to Sözcü that preparations for an increase in the exit fee are underway, though the exact figure has not yet been finalized.
The exit fee, which was 50 TL from July 2019 until February 2022, was raised to 150 TL in March 2022. In 2023, revenue from these fees totaled 1.311 billion TL, with 427 million TL collected in the January-April period of 2024. A portion of the revenue from these exit fees is allocated to the Housing Development Administration of Turkey (TOKİ).
