Türkiye reveals target of three years tourism revenue

2026 target is 71 billion dollars

According to program, Türkiye aims to achieve revenues of 55.6 billion dollars from tourism in 2023, 59.6 billion dollars in 2024, 64.7 billion dollars in 2025, and 71.3 billion dollars in 2026.

These figures indicate that the tourism revenue targets announced by the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, have been revised downward in the MTP. Ersoy had previously stated that Turkey's tourism revenue targets were 56 billion in 2023, 68 billion in 2024, 77 billion in 2025, 85.3 billion in 2026, 93 billion in 2027, and 100 billion dollars in 2028.

In addition to titles such as supporting foreign exchange-generating services, extending tourism to 12 months and nationwide, emphasizing vocational and technical education to enhance quality in tourism, and health tourism, daily rental houses are also included in this program. The program states, "Necessary legislative arrangements will be implemented for daily rental houses in order to ensure the continuation of high service quality in the tourism sector, reduce informal economy, and increase tourism revenues."

Here are the items related to tourism in the MTP:

1. The government will support services which providing foreign exchange earnings such as tourism, transportation, financial services and consulting, education, health, series/film and animation, overseas contracting, and technical consulting.

2. Promotional activities for alternative tourism products aimed at diversifying tourism and spreading it throughout the year and across the entire country will be carried out. Türkiye will target upper income group in rising markets worldwide, as well as countries in distant markets such as America and the Far East.

3. To enhance service quality in tourism, qualified employment opportunities for sector employees will be spread throughout the year, and skill levels will be increased through active implementation of vocational and technical education and on-the-job training programs.

4. Necessary legislative infrastructure will be implemented for the certification of daily rental houses in order to ensure the continuation of high service quality in the tourism sector, reduce informal economy, and increase tourism revenues.

5. In the field of health tourism, service capacity will be improved in terms of quality and quantity, and promotional and marketing activities will be increased.

6. Using sports diplomacy tools, events enhancing service revenue will be organized through regional and multilateral sports organizations.

7. International productions carried out within the country will be supported to transform Türkiye into a significant film production center.
