From January to April, a total of 10 million 654 thousand foreign visitors came to Türkiye. Additionally, statistics from the Turkish Statistical Institute indicate that over 2 million Turkish citizens residing abroad visited the country during the first three months of the year. This brings the total number of visitors to 12 million 679 thousand marking an 11.75 percent increase in foreign tourists compared to the same period last year.
Germany leads in visitor numbers
Germany topped the list of countries sending the most tourists to Türkiye in the first four months of this year. With a 16.20 percent increase, 1 million 122 thousand German visitors traveled to Türkiye. The Russian Federation followed closely with 1 million 78 thousand visitors. Iran, showing a substantial 51.78 percent increase, sent 946 thousand visitors, placing it third. Bulgaria and the United Kingdom rounded out the top five.
April sees continued growth
April alone saw a notable rise in foreign visitors, with numbers increasing by 8.71 percent compared to sama month of the previous year, reaching 3 million 611 thousand.
Germany continued to lead in April, contributing about 434 thousand visitors. The Russian Federation saw a 4.07 percent increase, bringing 396 thousand visitors, while the United Kingdom had an impressive 18.01 percent increase with 330 thousand visitors. Bulgaria and Iran remained significant contributors to the influx of tourists.
This early-year surge sets a promising tone for Türkiye's tourism industry in 2024, highlighting the country's growing appeal as a travel destination.
