According to official data, the number of tourists visiting Türkiye in the first month of the year rose by 6.06% year-on-year, reaching approximately 2.171 million.
Top countries sending tourists to Türkiye in January
Iran ranked first among the countries sending the most visitors to Türkiye in January, with 240,643 tourists. It was followed by Russian Federation with 203,733 visitors and Bulgaria with 165,792. Germany and Georgia also ranked among the top five source countries for tourism to Türkiye.
Decline in Russian Market, Growth in Emerging Markets
While Türkiye experienced an 11.6% decline in arrivals from Russia, key markets such as Germany, the Netherlands, the UK, and Poland showed increases. Specifically, visitor numbers from Germany rose by 5.41%, from the Netherlands by 2.4%, from the UK by 2.6%, and from Poland by 11.7%.
Meanwhile, strong growth was observed in emerging markets, with visitor numbers from China increasing by 36.8%, India by 7%, South Korea by 15.5%, Japan by 21%, and the United States by approximately 22%.
Record increase in Tourists from Israel and Malaysia
The highest surge in tourist arrivals was recorded from Malaysia (134%), Israel (96%), and Iceland (80%). Conversely, the most significant declines were seen in visitors from Tajikistan (75%), Kuwait (22%), and Libya (13%).
Türkiye’s tourism industry continues to show resilience with increasing visitor numbers from various international markets, despite fluctuations in certain key regions.
