According to the latest figures released by Spanish authorities, the number of visitors to the country in August increased by 7.3% compared to the same month last year, reaching a total of 10.93 million visitors.
Top visitor-generating countries in August
France led the way as the top source market of visitors to Spain in August, sending 2.139 million tourists. The UK followed closely with 2.119 million visitors, while Germany contributed 1.241 million, Italy 788,000, and the Netherlands 582,000.
Spain reached Turkey's annual tourism target in 8 months
From January to August, the number of international visitors to Spain increased by 11.2% compared to the same period in 2023, exceeding 64.3 million tourists. With this result, Spain reached Türkiye's annual tourism target in 8 months.
During this period, the UK was the leading source of visitors, with 12.662 million travelers. France followed with 9.196 million, Germany with 8 million, Italy with 3.757 million, and the Netherlands with 3.384 million visitors.
Record in tourism revenue and tourist number
Spain also experienced a significant rise in tourism revenue in August, with a 13% year-on-year increase, reaching €15.36 billion for the month. Total tourism revenue for the first eight months of the year grew by 17.6%, totaling €86.47 billion.
Average spending per tourist in August rose by 5.3% to €1,405, while the average daily expenditure per tourist increased by 8.8%, reaching €188.
