The Dertour Group has reported a notable 22 percent increase in summer bookings compared to the previous year, attributing this growth to an "increased desire to travel" and the recent bankruptcy of competitor FTI, according to product manager Sven Schikarsky.
Sven Schikarsky expressed his satisfaction with the strong demand, noting that the positive trend, anticipated by Ingo Burmester, CEO of the Dertour Group for Central Europe, is now evident. Burmester had projected an influx of "around 400,000 additional guests for summer and winter bookings" in the coming months.
Schikarsky highlighted that the Dertour Group's guest numbers had already been significantly higher than the previous year as of early June. "This clearly shows that the desire for a summer vacation is even greater than in the previous year," he stated.
Certain destinations have shown particularly impressive growth. Türkiye leads with a 61 percent increase in bookings, followed by Egypt at 70 percent. Other popular destinations include Spain (+11%), Greece (+15%), and Italy (+7%). For long-haul travel, the Emirates (+96%), the Indian Ocean islands (+47%), Thailand (+47%), the Caribbean (+29%), and North America (+29%) are top choices among travelers.
Despite the increased demand, Schikarsky reported that price increases remain in the mid-single-digit percentage range compared to the previous year.
