According to the latest research by the European Travel Commission (ETC), the number of people who say "I would like to visit Greece in the coming months" has increased by 6 points compared to last year, reaching 75%.
Greece rises in European preferences
Greece, which has risen by one point to fourth place in the preferences of European tourists, is becoming increasingly prominent in tourism. In terms of travel spending by tourists, Greece ranks first. Tourist spending in Greece increased by 25% compared to last year, followed by Spain with a similar rate, Italy at 20%, and France at 16%.
The role of key countries in increased travel interest
The ETC report notes that the main drivers of the increased travel interest in Europe are especially the UK, Spain, and Italy. "The percentage of Europeans planning to take at least one trip in the coming months has increased by 6 points compared to last year, reaching 36%. Of the survey participants, 33% plan to take two trips, and 24% plan to take more than two trips," the report stated.
