The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has announced visitor data for August 2024 and the first eight months of the year. According to the figures, the total number of foreign visitors to Türkiye in the January-August period of 2024 reached 35.8 million, marking a 7.11% increase compared to the same period last year. In addition, 4.49 million Turkish citizens residing abroad visited Turkey during this period, bringing the total number of visitors to 40.3 million.
Russian Federation led the list of countries sending the most visitors to Türkiye during the first eight months of the year, with 5.550 million tourists. Germany followed with 4.380 million, and the United Kingdom ranked third with 2.65 million visitors. Iran and Bulgaria rounded out the top five.
In August alone, Türkiye welcomed 6.83 million foreign visitors, a 2.47% rise compared to August 2023. Russia again topped the list of visitor sources for the month with 939,000 tourists, followed by Germany with 882,000 and the United Kingdom with 668,000. Iran and Poland also ranked among the top five visitor countries for August.
