9% Increase in October Visitors
In October, Antalya recorded a 9% rise in visitors compared to the same month the previous year, reaching 2 million tourists. Germany led as the top visitor-sending country, with 585,000 visitors, followed by the Russian Federation with 511,000, the United Kingdom with 182,000, Poland with 132,000, the Netherlands with 62,000, and both Ukraine and Lithuania with 41,000 visitors each.
Visitor numbers surpass 16 million in ten months
Between January and October, Antalya welcomed over 16 million visitors, marking a 7% increase compared to the same period last year. This represented an additional 1.063 million visitors comparing to 2023.
Russia leads by 450,000 over Germany
For the first ten months of the year, the Russian Federation remained Antalya's largest source market with 3.712 million visitors. Germany followed with 3.275 million visitors, then the United Kingdom (1.465 million), Poland (1.230 million), Kazakhstan (438,000), the Netherlands (434,000), Romania (419,000), and Ukraine (330,000).
Growth and decline across markets
From January to October, visitor increases were recorded from the Russian Federation (13%), Germany (4%), the United Kingdom (19%), and Poland (18%). However, declines were observed from the Netherlands (3%), Romania (5%), Belgium (6%), Switzerland (3%), Norway (3%), Finland (2%), and Israel (98%). Antalya saw a cumulative loss of 326,000 visitors from these seven countries, with Israel contributing the largest share of this decline at 271,000.
Antalya’s dependence on a few market persists
Despite efforts by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, led by Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, to diversify markets through the Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA), Antalya's tourism remains heavily dependent on a few key markets. Currently, 44.35% of Antalya's visitors are from Germany and Russia alone. Including the United Kingdom and Poland, this figure rises to 61.46%, indicating that four markets account for roughly 61.5% of Antalya's total tourism base.
