According to data released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the total number of visitors to the top 10 museums and ancient sites reached 482,292, while the total number of visitors, including other museums and sites, rose to 1,111,957.
Top tourist destinations
Ephesus Ancient City, a popular tourist destination in İzmir, topped the list with 129,987 visitors, followed by Hierapolis Ancient City, known for its water and faith, with 111,027 visitors. Göreme Open Air Museum in Cappadocia, known for its magical atmosphere, ranked third with 36,661 visitors.
Other notable sites included Antalya's Olympos Ancient City with 32,540 visitors, the historical symbol of Istanbul, Galata Tower, with 30,483 visitors, Nevşehir's Paşabağlar with 29,788 visitors, Trabzon's Sümela Monastery with 28,528 visitors, Antalya's Patara Ancient City with 28,497 visitors, the mystical Göbeklitepe in Şanlıurfa with 27,736 visitors, and Antalya's Phaselis Ancient City with 27,045 visitors.
Overall visitor numbers
In total, the top 10 museums and ancient sites hosted 482,292 visitors, while the remaining 166 museums and sites welcomed 629,665 visitors. Thus, a general total of 1,111,957 people had the opportunity to explore Türkiye's historical and cultural riches during the holiday.
