Turkish Airlines has released its traffic figures for January through April 2024, showing a significant increase in both passenger numbers and cargo volume, according to a statement filed with the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).
In April alone, the airline experienced a 6.9% rise in passenger traffic, reaching 7 million passengers compared to 6.5 million in the same month last year. The number of international transfer passengers slightly increased by 0.5% to 2.47 million from 2.46 million in April 2023.
The passenger load factor for April 2024 improved by 0.8 points to 80.7%. The international segment recorded a load factor of 80%, while domestic flights saw a higher load factor of 86.5%.
The total Available Seat Kilometers (ASK) in April surged by 8.4% year-over-year, reaching 20.3 billion, up from 18.7 billion in the same period last year.
Looking at the broader four-month period from January to April 2024, Turkish Airlines handled 25.5 million passengers, marking an 8% increase from the 23.6 million passengers during the same period in 2023. The number of international transfer passengers grew by 7.7%, totaling 10.1 million.
Despite these gains, the overall passenger load factor from January to April 2024 saw a slight decline of 0.4 points, settling at 80.5%. The international load factor was recorded at 80.2%, while domestic flights performed better with a load factor of 83.7%.
The total ASK for the four-month period rose by 11.8% to 78.7 billion, up from 70.4 billion in the previous year.
Significantly, the airline also reported a 35.1% increase in cargo and mail volume, transporting 640,000 tons compared to 473,700 tons from January to April 2023.
As of the end of April 2024, Turkish Airlines' fleet comprised 455 aircraft, positioning it for continued expansion in its global operations.
